The CERTASS installation certificate is a document that every property owner in the UK must have when replacing windows or external doors.

CERTASS guarantees that the windows/doors and their assembly meet the standards required by UK building regulations:

  • are installed in the correct manner,
  • meet the quality requirements,
  • fulfill thermal insulation requirements (e.g., tempered glass in balcony doors).

Our company is an accredited member of CERTASS, so we issue relevant documents after the completed installation of windows or doors.

The customer receives the certificate within 2-4 weeks after completion of the installation work.

  1. Assembly of the new product.

We start by thoroughly cleaning the opening and insert the new window or door. We process with masking strips in the colour of the product and silicone their edges.

We do not process or putty the interiors around the windows or doors.

  1. Order acceptance protocol.

After the work is completed, we sign the acceptance protocol and ask you to make the final payment.

  1. All that remains is a handshake, and you can enjoy the new look of your house/flat!

There are plenty of different types of windows on the market. Each of them has its own advantages and corresponding applications, so it is worthwhile to familiarise yourself with the available options before making a decision.

Here is an overview of the most popular types:

  • Frame-opening windows – the most common type of windows, which open sideways with hinges. They can be opened inward or outward, making them easier to clean and maintain.
  • Tilt-and-slide windows – this type of window allows the sash to both tilt inward and slide to the side, providing greater flexibility in regulating airflow and sunlight. They are particularly popular in modern construction projects.
  • Roof windows – are installed in roof slopes and provide natural light and ventilation in attics and lofts. They can be opened manually or with an electric mechanism, making them easy to operate in hard-to-reach places.

Regular maintenance and proper care are key to ensuring that our windows serve us for years to come. Here are some practical tips:

  • Regular cleaning is crucial to keep them clean. Remember to periodically remove dust, dirt and grime from the surface of the glass and window frames. You can use mild detergents, cleaners or household solutions such as vinegar water or dishwashing liquid to clean the windows.
  • Lubricating hinges and mechanisms will help keep windows running smoothly and avoid problems with opening and closing. It is recommended to use special metal lubricants or silicone oils. Remember to also lubricate other moving parts, such as handles and locks.
  • Checking the seals will come in handy, especially after periods of heavy use or extreme weather conditions. Damaged or worn seals can lead to air and water ingress, which can increase heating costs and cause structural damage to the window.

South-facing windows – receive the most sunlight for most of the day. It is perfect for those who appreciate bright and well-lit rooms. The natural light coming in through south-facing windows can also help heat the room during the colder months!

NOTE: Keep in mind that on hot days they can contribute to excessive heating of the interior, so consider installing appropriate protective features such as shutters or blinds.

East-facing windows are ideal for those who appreciate morning sunlight. They offer beautiful natural lighting in the morning, which can create a pleasant atmosphere for morning activities. However, they will not provide as much light throughout the day as south-facing windows. Therefore, additional artificial lighting may be necessary in some rooms.

West-facing windows provide beautiful natural lighting in the evenings, which will be ideal for those who like to enjoy the sunset. On long, hot summer days, however, they can contribute to excessive heat build-up in rooms, especially if they are not properly protected from excessive sunlight.

Here are the most important features of each type to think about before making a final decision:

Wooden doors:

  • They add character and warmth to the interior thanks to the natural look of wood. Those are especially suitable for those who appreciate a traditional, classic style.
  • Wood allows for a wide range of colours, shades and patterns, making it possible to customize doors to suit individual aesthetic preferences and interior style.
  • They can be easily refurbished by sanding and repainting, allowing them to extend their life and maintain an aesthetic appearance for years to come.

Steel doors:

  • They are known for their durability and resistance to weather conditions and burglary attempts. They provide a solid protective barrier for the home.
  • Unlike wooden doors, they require minimal maintenance. They are resistant to moisture, making them ideal for use in areas with harsher climates.
  • They provide effective thermal and acoustic insulation, which helps maintain the right temperature indoors and reduce noise from outside.

Each type of door has unique features that will work well for different conditions and user needs. Here are the most important characteristics of specific door kinds:

Wooden – wood adds warmth and character to interiors. Wooden doors are durable and offer excellent thermal and sound insulation. They can be painted or varnished, which offers a wide range of decorative possibilities, as well as easy maintenance.

Steel – are extremely durable and resistant to mechanical damage. They are perfect as exterior doors, providing a high level of security. Suitable for those who appreciate solid construction.

Plastic (PVC) – they are lightweight, easy to maintain and relatively inexpensive. They provide good thermal insulation and are resistant to moisture, making them a popular choice for bathrooms and rooms with high humidity.

Composite – combines the advantages of wood and steel, offering durability, thermal insulation and weather resistance.

Proper door assembly is key to getting the most out of a door.

Here are a few reasons why you should spend a little more time on proper door assembly or entrust this activity to specialists:

  • Safety. Doors are one of the most important elements in securing your home from unwanted “guests”. Correctly fitted doors with sturdy and secure hardware are one of the most important elements in protecting your home to prevent any undesirable “visitors”.
  • Optimisation of electricity bills. Correctly installed doors help maintain the right temperature in the house, which affects energy efficiency. Thermal insulation reduces heat loss in winter and protects against excessive heating in summer, which can help reduce energy bills.
  • Preventing water and air infiltration. Careful installation of doors prevents uncontrolled seepage of rainwater, among other things. This is important to protect the structure of the house from the harmful effects of moisture.
  • Proper functioning of the door. Correct assembly ensures smooth opening and closing of doors and prevents jamming. This is important especially for doors used on a daily basis, where user comfort is as important as aesthetics.

Here are some tips on how to take care of your door so that it remains in excellent condition for years to come:

  • To avoid slamming and difficulty opening, regularly lubricate the door hinges with the right oil or grease.
  • Take care of proper humidity in the room to avoid deformation of the door due to excessive dryness or humidity.
  • Clean doors regularly, removing dirt and dust, especially around locks and handles.
  • Educate household members to handle doors carefully, avoiding bumping and pulling, which can lead to damage.

Unwanted noise coming from outside the house makes it difficult to concentrate while working, resting or sleeping. Ensuring proper sound insulation in the home often determines the comfort of living.

Protection against noise coming into the house depends on the intensity of sound outside the building. It is best to limit sounds so that noise levels do not exceed:

  • 30 dB at night,
  • 40 dB during the day.

Single-leaf doors – this is the most common type of door, consisting of a single leaf that opens to one side. They are commonly applied in homes, offices and other buildings.

Double-leaf doors – consist of two sashes, usually opening outward or inward. Bi-fold doors provide a distinctive look to a room and can be used in larger entrances.

Sliding doors – slide along guides, instead of opening sideways. They are ideal for small spaces, as they do not take up space when opening.
